| Connors new personal best for the indoor 200 is just under half a second better than his previous best. This is a massive improvement to make in one race but has being slowly building towards it with his training and racing. The time is a new under 17 championship best breaking the current National Senior champion Daragh Grahams under 17 best of 23.86 some years ago. Earlier Connor won the first of his double golds with a win in the 60m even after stumbling from his blocks.
David McDonald was also in winning form taking gold in the u12 long jump with a leap of 4.29 and also took silver in the hurdles behind clubmate Sam O'Neill who took gold in the 60m hurdles and was just 3/100ths of a second behind his brother in the 60m flat taking silver there to Lukes gold. This is great running from these young athletes in their first ever leinster championships.
The ever improving Chris Burke took a well deserved bronze in the u19 200m with a new pesonal best of 24.48 and was just outside the medals in the 60 with 7.61. Emma O'Gorman showed her strength and determination to battle to a great silver in the 200m and followed it up with a silver in the 60m. Dale Murphy was just outside the medals in the u15 60m finishing in 5th place with team mate Aaron Donovan finishing in 7th.
Well done to all Menapians over the weekend and best of luck in the All-Irelands. |
