Co. Senior Road Race / Leinsters U20, Senior & Masters Track and Field

Mr Oil County Senior Road Race

The historic castle in Ferns Village overlooked the counties finest athletes as they went through their warm up routines. Ahead of them lay a challenge : 5k for ladies &10k for men.

As is customary ladies were first as they raced over 1 loop of the well known roads of Ferns returning to the village on the main road from Enniscorthy. The final slope up into the village a real test on tired legs.

In Menapians vests were Ilze Bedrite (25:55) and Jennifer Kehoe (25:46) who pushed on with grit and determination to the finish line.

When the ladies race was complete a huge group of men gathered to wait the starters gun and the race took off with incredible speed. The mens race was 2 loops of the route and our 3 showed tremendous character. Tony Harpur (40:30) , Paul Harpur (47:02) & Conor MacAogain (49:40) gave it everything as they completed the race.

Congratulations to our 5 athletes who each gave it everything.
