Weekly Roundup / 4th August

Steeplechase specialist Róisín O'Reilly competed for Team Ireland, on Saturday last, in the inaugural Youth Nations Cup held at Morton Stadium, Santry. Still feeling the effects of her recent trip to the European Youth Olympics in Azerbaijan, Róisín was not firing on all cylinders. She was therefore happy enough with her 2nd place finish. Time now to put the feet up and enjoy an end-of-season break.

At the recent County Championships run over 2 evening at the Enniscorthy Sports Club we had a small crew attending. Catherine O'Connor competed well in Novice & Senior 800m and the 1mile both nights, Michael Kinsella ran well also over 800m Senior, Morgan Haydon also ran the Senior 800m taking a well deserved bronze. Adam Leahy ran both the Novice & Senior 100m taking a well deserved gold in Novice. Laura Halpin was busy throwing both Shot Putt & Javelin, her daughter Eimear Halpin stepped up and took a well earned silver at Junior Javelin. Well done to all athletes and a special mention to their coaches for giving their time freely to coach.

On Thursday last Leon Reid was competing in Belfast at the Belfast International EAP finishing 2nd in the 200m with a 20.89 finish. Saturday morning at the Wexford Racecourse Parkrun.
John Dier 24.06
Tadhg Henderson 24.55
Janette Mulvany 30.29
Sinead Ryan 34.35
all represented the club and got the weekend 5k completed.
Roisin O'Reilly brought an end to her season with an excellent 2nd place finish in the steeplechase at the Youth Nations Cup on Saturday. A fitting conclusion to a fantastic season for Roisin and her coach Mick McKeon.
Helen Sinnott & Sharron Dier took a quick spin to Our Lady's Island on Sunday morning to run the 6k Leo Carthy Memorial Run.
