A road trip was the order of the day for two members this weekend. Enda O'Sullivan and Brendan Broderick hit the road to Dingle with Enda tackling the Dingle Half Marathon in 2hr 10m and Brendan who is originally from Kerry compling the Dingle Marathon in 4hr 33m. Well done gentlemen, enjoy the recovery.
Closer to home and Ferns was the destination on Saturday evening as SBR hosted their annual 4 mile run. Michael Kinsella ran an excellent 30.44 on a nice evening off a race, well done.
At New Ross Parkrun in JFK 4 members took part. Fran Power (26.14 earning himself a new PB), Siobhan Doyle (36.08 earning herself a PB), Sharron Dier (41.32) & Bridie McGuire (43.16 earning herself a new Pb) all enjoying their morning 5k while Martin Kelly took a spin to Gorey to run their 5k Parkrun coming home in 24.16. Good results all around.
Sunday morning club member Ger Mulhall made the trip to take part in The Grwat North Run in Newcastle to raise funds for Marinewatch. Ger is an active Marinewatch volunteer and is using the event to raise much needed funds for Marinewatch. He comfortably completed the course in 2 hr 5m congrats Ger.

Well done to club member Tadhg Henderson who recently competed at Tri the Hook while representing Wexford Triathlon Club. Thanks to Tri Club for picture.
On Friday evening our members travelled to take part in the final Slaney Olympic Summer League event. A 2 mile dash was on the menu and club members Paul Donovan , Tadhg Henderson, Michael Kinsella , Fran Power, Louise Henderson, Helen Sinnott all pushing themselves over the 2 mile route with Orla Redmond travelling to support or members. Thanks to Slaney Olympic for hosting and for their hospitality.
On a warm sunny morning at Wexford Racecourse Parkrun on Saturday we saw club members Dermot Foley 3rd finisher today (19.29), Francis Power (27.42) & Louise Henderson (29.05) all representing the club completing the 5k run.
Same sunny morning but down the road at New Ross Parkrun 3 of our lady members travelled to run in JFK Parkrun. Orla Redmond led the ladies home (30.18), Sinead Ryan posted a new PB(33.37) & Siobhan Doyle (37.28) all completing the 5k course.
In The Burrow Kilmore the 1st round of the Kilmore AC Winter League took place. We had Morgan Hayden 1st, Roisin O'Reilly 1st and Ciara Dolan 4th in their races. Thanks to Kilmore AC for organising. Next race is in 2 weeks.

At this weeks Wexford Racecourse Parkrun Dermot Foley (22.57), Terry Walsh (25.33), Martin Kelly(26.28), Francis Power (29.16), Sinead Ryan (38.56) & Bridie McGuire (48.39) all represented the club on Saturday morning.
In Olyegate on a warm and bright morning the annual half marathon & 10k took place. A well organised event over a testing course. Today in the half marathon we had 3 members Michael Halpin 1.58.30 Louise Henderson 2.17.40 Brian Reilly 2.21.33, and in the10k we also had 3 members John Dier 49.42 Bridie McGuire 1.29.33. Great effort all around, well done guys and gals.
Weekly Roundup / 4th August
Steeplechase specialist Róisín O'Reilly competed for Team Ireland, on Saturday last, in the inaugural Youth Nations Cup held at Morton Stadium, Santry. Still feeling the effects of her recent trip to the European Youth Olympics in Azerbaijan, Róisín was not firing on all cylinders. She was therefore happy enough with her 2nd place finish. Time now to put the feet up and enjoy an end-of-season break.
At the recent County Championships run over 2 evening at the Enniscorthy Sports Club we had a small crew attending. Catherine O'Connor competed well in Novice & Senior 800m and the 1mile both nights, Michael Kinsella ran well also over 800m Senior, Morgan Haydon also ran the Senior 800m taking a well deserved bronze. Adam Leahy ran both the Novice & Senior 100m taking a well deserved gold in Novice. Laura Halpin was busy throwing both Shot Putt & Javelin, her daughter Eimear Halpin stepped up and took a well earned silver at Junior Javelin. Well done to all athletes and a special mention to their coaches for giving their time freely to coach.
On Thursday last Leon Reid was competing in Belfast at the Belfast International EAP finishing 2nd in the 200m with a 20.89 finish. Saturday morning at the Wexford Racecourse Parkrun.

Roisin O'Reilly brought an end to her season with an excellent 2nd place finish in the steeplechase at the Youth Nations Cup on Saturday. A fitting conclusion to a fantastic season for Roisin and her coach Mick McKeon.
Helen Sinnott & Sharron Dier took a quick spin to Our Lady's Island on Sunday morning to run the 6k Leo Carthy Memorial Run.

The latest race in the Summer League took place in Bree on Friday evening hosted by Slaney Olympic.
Fran Power 35:36, Louise Henderson 36:40, Laura Halpin 39:00, Michael Halpin 39:01, Eimear Halpin 39:01, Orla Redmond 41:21, Siobhan Doyle 45:20 & Sinead Ryan 45:21 all travelled to take on the testing course (apparently it was fairly flat). Thanks to S.O. for their hospitality once again.
The next race in their series is 2 mile Clonhaston - 30th August.

At this weeks Wexford Racecourse Parkrun Dermot Foley (21.33), John Dier (24.32), Paula Gondard (25.25), Francis Power (28.03) & Martin Kelly (28.33) all represented the club on Saturday morning.
Congratulations to Eimear Halpin who finished a very creditable 5th in U16 discus & Ruby Reynolds was 1st in U14 80m hurdles at the Aldi Community Games All Ireland in UL on Sunday. These two dedicated athletes have put in trojan work all year to get to this point. A great weekend was had by the girls and thanks to Wexford Community Games for the support given to the girls over the weekend.
Training continues on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for adults.
