In Lingstown the County Intermediate Cross Country took place on a windy and cold day. Ladies were first to tackle the course with 4k to run. Well done to Alex Donohue Helen Sinnott and Louise Henderson who ran well in the tough conditions. Special mention to Alex who was involved in a sprint finish and just missed out on a bronze medal. The welcome return of the ever popular Winter League happened on Friday evening last as over 200 athletes all under the age of 16 turned up to take part. A cool evening was awaiting all athletes under the lights in Enniscorthy. The main focus of this event is participation and great to see so many on the track. Well done to everyone who took part and thanks to all volunteers who gave their time to ensure the event took place.

The WexfordRacecourse Parkrun took place on a wet morning this week but well done to Dermot Foley 20.36, Fran Power 25.02 & Martin Kelly 25.32 who were not put off by the rain.

The Leinster Cross Country took place on Saturday and we had 2 representatives in Ciara Dolan & Roisin O'Reilly. Ciara went in the U17 finishing a strong 26th in a competitive race. Roision took a fantastic 3rd in the U19 race. Well done to both girls.

A wet Saturday morning was what greeted the Wexford Racecourse Parkrunners today. Not an easy morning to get out the door early between the weather and the Rugby World Cup Final on tv. It did not deter club members Dermot Foley 20.12, Paul Donovan 20.56, Jesse Kielthy 22.13 showing no I'll effects after his 1/2 Marathon in Amsterdam, Michael Kinsella 22.42, John Dier 23.56 and Fran Power 26.09. Well done everyone, another run in the bag.

A Sunny and dry Sunday morning saw club member Sinead Ryan travel to Corkagh Park, Dublin to take on the Brain Tumour Ireland 10k. Two laps of their Parkrun course and as you can see Sinead was pleased with her mornings workout.

On Saturday our athletes travelled to Gowran in Co. Kilkenny to take part in the Leinster Cross Country. There was huge disappointment for Grace Kelly who travelled up with her Dad Martin, Mum and sister and was ready to race. The race was called ten minutes before the official start time of the championships and she missed the start.

Roisin O'Reilly and Ciara Dolan competed in the combined under 18 and junior race. Ciara ran well, with two days of hill walking in her legs and ran a steady race finishing 34th in the under 18 and 31st in the junior race.

Roisin was competing in her first cross country race of the season. She had a steady start keeping in contact with the leading bunch for the first of the 2km laps. The going was soft with a few very wet muddy patches, throwing runners off their stride. She worked her way to second place going into the final lap with Holly Brennan of Co Meath tracking her stride for stride. The first girl, a junior athlete, got away and Roisin and Holly battled hard to close the gap. With 500m to go Holly got a few strides ahead of Roisin, with Roisin finishing third in the junior category and 2nd in the under 18 category. A good solid opening race for Roisin

Morgan Haydon found the sloppy ground difficult to navigate with his neat stride. He toughed it out getting stuck into the middle of the race pack and improving his position through the race. He finished an excellent 29th, a very credible placing considering he only started cross country running last year.

Catherine O'Connor put in a fine performance in the novice race and finished in 64th place in a very competitive race.

Bank Holiday weekend in October means Dublin City Marathon time. The club had two members taking on the 26.2 mile challenge. Brendan Broderick after running Dingle marathon recently today ran 4.45 and Enda O'Sullivan who loves a Half Marathon today doubled the distance coming home with a 5.10. Well done gents and enjoy the celebrations.

Great to see some of our couch to 5k recruits still tackling 5k's and continuing their running journey. Well done Bridie McGuire & Sheirleen Stanners who took part at the Superhero Race in Gorey Saturday.

Today saw the hosting of the Senior Cross Country which was hosted by Croghan AC in Coolgreaney. The men's race was over 10k on a hilly course and clubman Neil 0’Grady ran an excellent 41.34 in his first Senior for the club. The ladies ran a 5k course with the same hills and our two ladies competing were Catherine O'Connor in another good time of 25.21 , and Helen Sinnott coming in shortly after her in a well earned 26.55 on a gorgeous day for running. Well done to all three of our athletes.

Well done to Croghan AC who were excellent hosts.

On Sunday after the rain all day Saturday, the County Cross Country took place in the sunshine in JFK New Ross hosted by Untied Striders.

In the Junior girls race Ciara Dolan pushed herself and secured a county silver over the 4k course.

Grace Kelly was a well placed 5th in a competitive u12 race.

Helen Sinnott was the sole lady racing the 4k course finishing well up the field in a well earned 11th place.

Three men stepped up to tackle the 6k race, Neil O'Grady finished in 16th after a sprint finish and John Dier was 34th in his bare feet in a very fast paced race. Speedy recovery to Paul Donovan who had to pull up during the race.

Morgan Haydon had a sprint finish to come home in 2nd place earning silver in the Junior boys race also over 6k.

Well done to all our club athletes who acquitted themselves so well on the day.

The Saturday morning Racecourse Parkrun reverted to the horseshoe route today with 5 members taking part. Dermot Foley was 2nd over the line with 20.40 on the clock, Finbarr Bradley recorded 22.39, Martin Kelloy 23.38, John Dier 24.00 & Fran Power continuing to lower his 5k time with 25.01. The Saturday morning Parkrun at the Wexford Racecourse was a special event this week as Parkrun tied in with the Irish Heart Foundation nationally. The Wexford event was held in memory of Sinead Breen, a local schoolteacher who passed away suddenly in the last year. Over 500 people turned up to show support in her memory with 11 of those from our club. Finbarr Bradley, Paula Gondard, Fran Power, Grace Kelly, Martin Kelly, Louise Henderson, Therese Byrne, Sheirleen Stanners, Bridie McGuire, Grace White & Sinead Ryan all took part in this weeks run with John Dier race director ably assisted by Sharron Dier making sure the event ran smoothly. Times were not important this week as the main focus was on Irish Heart Foundation and the memory of Sinead Breen.
