Wexford Tri Club 10k

16 members headed to Rosslare for the Easter Monday Wexford Tri Club 10k which has become a popular event on most people's calender. The atmosphere was superb as the marshals and supporters encouraged each and every athlete as they made their way around the 10k.

Streets of Kilkenny 5k

The historic city of Kilkenny was Thursday evenings location for a 5k race which began and finished under the imposing structure we all know as Kilkenny Castle.

Brian Smyth was our man in black and red joining 896 others on the run with almost 350 athletes under 20 mins, a very quick race indeed.

Brian ran an impressive 19:01 to be 230th over the finish line, a superb run well done.

Well done Eamonn.

Mr. Oil Novice Road Race

The first in the Wexford Athletics Mr Oil road race series took place in a sunny but cool Kilmore village today. The Novice was 4k for ladies & 6k for men on a 3k loop around the village. A huge effort was made to increase entry numbers and as a club we certainly played our part with 9 in the ladies race and 13 in the mens race and 8 of those running a county race for the first time.

As is customary the ladies race was first with the whistle blowing at 11.30 to begin proceedings. Fantastic running from every one of our ladies was rewarded by a Team Bronze result with Helen, Ilze, Paula & Sarah scoring to secure the medals. Well done on a great achievement.

When the ladies race was complete it was the men's turn as they headed out on 2 loops of the 3k route. Each and every man pushing himself to perform as best he could saw all 13 very happy with their times.

As our club motto says 'Believe and Achieve' and today as a club we believed and we achieved. To have so many entrants was an achievement in itself and to instill a self belief into athletes to run these County races is a credit to our coaching team. Congratulations to all our athletes and in particular our bronze team medal winners. Thanks to our support team who encouraged all our athletes with their very vocal encouragement, our athletes did fully appreciate the atmosphere you created.

Well done to Wexford County Board and Kilmore AC who provided another great race. Looking forward to Intermediate in 4 weeks.
