National Juvenile T&F Championships
It was a scorcher in Tullamore for day 3 of the 123.ie National Juvenile T&F Championships. Menapians had two athletes, Josh Nolan and Elijah Page-Redmond, taking part in the U18 Javelin competition. Josh, with his very first throw, threw 47.57 metres, his best effort of the competition. In fact, showing great consistency, he went beyond 47 metres three times in the course of the event. This not only left him with an impressive new personal best but resulted in him winning a silver medal. The performance secures Josh a place on the Irish team which competes in the Celtic Games in Scotland at the end of August. Elijah, who is making a gradual recovery from injury, placed 6th. His best throw of 40.25 metres was well off his best and his series including a number of no-throws. Just one of those days. Congratulations to both boys. Their dedication and hard work always shines through. A big thank you to the coaches, especially Pádraig, for his hard work with the boys throughout the year
DSD Masters Games
Menapians had just two athletes competing at yesterday's DSD Masters Games in Dublin. Siobhán Doyle ran the 100m and 200m while Kirsty Hynds lined out in the 1500m. The two also competed in the mixed 4x100m relay. Here they are with Enniscorthy's John O'Connor and the forever young Michael Ryan.
London 10K
John and Sharron Dier were in action over in London on Sunday morning. In borderline heatwave conditions they took part in the 10k in Swanley.
John clocked 55:23 and Sharron 1:19:27 ,running in very warm weather.
Congratulations and nice to see club colours popping up abroad.
Race 2 Glory Adventure Race
Sharon Martin and Fran Rea were in action again at the weekend competing at the Race 2 Glory Adventure Race in Kiltimagh Co. Mayo. The event consisted of a 10k mountain run, followed by a 23k hilly cycle and finishing with a 7k run over toad, river and country track.
Both athletes competed over the 40k route and Sharon blitzed the course winning the women's race in very warm conditions.
