Today the Inter Varsities Relays were held and club member Roisín O'Reilly was representing UCD in the event. 4 legs of 1mile, 2 mile, 2 mile & 1 mile testing the teams and Roisín ran the fourth leg 1 mile. A great display from UCD ladies winning the event, their first win in the event since 2015.

7th November Leinster Uneven Age
Cross country season continued today and 3 Menapians took a journey up to Avondale House County Wicklow for the staging of the Leinster Uneven ages Cross Country. In the U 11 girls race Aoibheann Farelly ran well at her first Leinsters and dug deep to be a scoring athlete on the Wexford team who finished 8th team overall, a great result.
Our 2nd athlete competing was Laragh Walsh fresh from winning the County title a few weeks ago. She ran the U13 race finishing in 35th place in her first Wexford vest and the 3rd Wexford girl home. The first 3 Wexford girls were only a second apart and they were the 5th place team on the day, another great result.
Our 3rd athlete was the Ciara Dolan running U19 and showing her consistency finishing a very well placed 18th and 2nd Wexford girl in a very competitive field. Well done.
Well done Aoibheann, Laragh & Ciara. A word of thanks to our coaches and also to the girls parents for travelling up today.
Mullingar Parkrun
On Saturday our own Martin Kelly was on the road and dropped by the Mullingar Parkrun while in the area. Not only did he produce a great time (his own parkrun PB) but he was the No. 1 parkrun athlete in his age category in the country!
Well done to you Martin
Shout out to our Parkrunners who on a blustery morning for running got out and got their 5k done at the free weekly event. John Dier, Sharron Dier, Dermot Foley & Enda O'Sullivan completed the Wexford Racecourse Parkrun.
Sinead Ryan, Oliver Stack, Fran Power & Martin Kelly took the spin to JFK Park to run the New Ross Parkrun.
Well done folks.
Mr Oil Novice Cross Country 31st October
Mr. Oil County Novice Cross Country 2021.
Sunday saw the hosting of the Mr. Oil County Novice Cross Country races with S.B.R. the kind hosts on this occasion and I think everyone will agree the course was enjoyable despite some surface water in places after the heavy rain during the week. As always ladies were first up to race 4k which was just over 2 laps of the field. Our lone female athlete Mary Gaynor put in her usual strong performance and finished in 14th place. Next up the Men's race and this was 6k which was approx 3.5 laps of the field. 6 club men took on this race with Tony Harpur coming home in 16th after a gritty run, Dermot Foley was 29th with Gavin Hayes just a few places behind in 33rd, a few places behind him was Chris Bent in his first Cross country run and his first ever run for the club in 37th, John Dier dug deep to finished 40th and Darren O'Grady just behind in 41st.
A word of thanks to S.B.R. for hosting & to the Co. Board and their helpers for their work getting the event staged. Thanks to the Civil Defence who provided medical cover. Lastly thanks to our volunteers on thd say Helen, Catherine, Padraig & Sharron.
31st October Quest Race
The Quest race team have succeeded in restarting their series of events and yesterday they hosted Quest Glendalough starting in the picturesque village of Laragh. They had a few race options in Expert, Sport & Challenge distances which all involve running, cycling & kayaking. This proved no problem for our Miriam Hill as she took on the Sport challenge totalling 43k. Starting with a 6k cycle followed by a 6k run then back on the saddle for a 20k cycle before another 6k run then a 1k kayak on the lakes of Glendalough before a final run of 4k phew.
Congratulations Miriam and enjoy the recovery today.

Team Ireland Appreciation at Dublin Castle 29th October
In Dublin Castle today a Toyko 2020 Olympic Squad appreciation event was held. The athletes and coaches all re-united and enjoyed a lunch and enjoyed catching up with everyone again. You are all familiar with one of the attendees, Shane McCormack who attended with his wife Melissa as he was presented with his token of appreciation. Great to see him being recognised for all his hard work and dedication.
24th October Parkrun
This week's shoutout to our Parkrun runners.
With the horseracing taking place in Wexford Racecourse over the weekend a group of members headed to JFK Park to run the New Ross Parkrun. 9 members in total took part, Sharron Dier, Sinead Ryan, Orla Redmond, Oliver Stack, Fran Power, Martin Kelly, Darren O'Grady, John Dier & Dermot Foley all completing the weekly free 5k run. Looks like Dermot has a new love in his life !
Cloughbawn 5km/10km 25th October
Herself and meself ventured into deepest darkest Cloughbawn (and even managed to get back out and got away with robbing coffee and buns ) to run the 5k and 10k run/walks that Cloughbawn GAA Club put on this afternoon to raise funds for St Gabriel's ward in Wexford General Hospital. Anyone that knows me well will know how special that ward is to me. Not only did we mug them for a brew and biccies, we both robbed a good time to come home with. I thought the days of getting close to 50 minutes were gone but given the total amount of ascent, I think on a flatter course 40 seconds off that time was very doable. To clock my fastest 1km,5km and 10km of the year all in the space of 50 hours, I'll take that with bells on . Great time for the missus as well, both happy campers on the way home.
