Ferrycarrig 5 mile

2022 has begun and congratulations to the organisers of the Innovu Ferrycarrig 5 mile race which was held today. Starting and finishing at the grounds of Wexford FC the course is run for the most part on the quieter back roads with a short section o the main Ferrycarrig to Ennscorthy road. A fair course and as ever it was well organised but unfortunately this year due to Covid 19 protocols the famous food spread could not take place. That did not take from the event as people kicked off the year in numbers supporting this event and amongst them were seven from the club.

Well done to

Tony Harpur 31.22

Dermot Foley 34.48

Tadhg Henderson 38.17

John Dier 38.44

Sinead Cleary 39.55

Michael Halpin 41.24

Ilze Bedrite 46.06.

Dave Nolan Marathon Challenge 31st December

Around this time last year everyone was looking to 2021 and deciding on challenges and goals for the year ahead. Club member Dave Nolan found a challenge for himself while also raising money for the Laura Lynn foundation. He decided he would complete a marathon distance each week of the year by combining his training totals to reach 42km or more. The first few months we were in lockdown and Dave set off about his challenge and week after week ticked off another marathon distance. There were weeks during the year when heading outdoors was not the most exciting prospect but Dave stuck at it and ran in all weathers from wind to heavy rain and fortunately some sunny days.

A huge congratulations Dave from everyone in the club for the dedicated way you set about your challenge.

Onto the next challenge now !
