At the National League 3 members were entered as guests at the weekend in Templemore. Not a great day weatherwise for athletics but nothing we can do about that. Damp and breezy all day.

Conor Wilson was in great form running 11.39 into the wind over 100m winning his heat then stepping up to run the 200m in 23.30.

Clodagh ran the 200m but there was an issue with the timing equipment so no time but she finished 4th.

She ran the 100m into a strong headwind finishing 4th place.

Michael Deady ran 12.03 for the 100m finishing 5th in his heat.

Great stuff from our 3 athletes, still more to come from you all.

With a large crowd gathering from 10am to participate and support the athletes, it was certain to be a great day for clubs across the county. As always, Menapian’s AC was represented in great numbers with 17 athletes turning out across the various age groups.

Cuan Monaghan, Oisín Moran and Chloe Carroll performed very well in the under 9s age group with Cuan qualifying for the semi final in his 60m sprint. Oisín and Chloe also did very well in this event and all three participated in the turbo javelin and middle distance which was 300

metres for under 9s. A great effort by our three youngest competing athletes, well done Cuan, Oisín and Chloe.

Our sole athlete in Under 10s this week was Callum Redmond who qualified for the final in his 60m sprint. Well done Callum.

We had four athletes competing in under 11s. Training pals Nico Losak, Elijah Donegan and Max Gilhooley took part in the 60m sprint, high jump and turbo javelin with Max making the sprint semi final. Kelly Cousins also competed in the sprint. Great performances by all, well done.

Rory Henderson and Lily Siggins represented the club in Under 13s. Lily did very well to make the finals in the 60m hurdles and just missed out on a medal coming 4th in high jump. Lily also

competed in the sprint and javelin events. Meanwhile Rory took a silver medal in the 60m hurdles and bronze in high jump as well as making the final in the 80m sprint.

Lorcan Carroll participated in the 80m sprint and 75m hurdles. And Elijah Page-Redmond took good medals in Hurdles, Long Jump and the 200m sprint.

Abigail Quinn competed admirably in the hurdles despite an injury she incurred during the race which brought a premature end to her participation for the day. We wish Abigail a speedy recovery.

In under 16s, Lucas Page-Redmond took a gold medal in the 200m sprint and silver for high jump.

Well done to all our athletes for competing again today. Thanks also to our officials Padraig, Helen, Siobhan and Catherine, and also to the club's coaches and helpers in attendance on the day: Ellen, Liam, Sinead, Tracey, Louise & Tadhg. Menapians showed up in great numbers to take part in the various events, with a big support crew to bask in the sunshine and soak up the atmosphere of the day while doing the club proud shouting for the club’s competitors.

Kicking off in the field events was Under 9’s Conor Donovan with a brilliant first competitive event in the Long Jump. Another great First for Lilly Rowe Steele (Under 10) for the Turbo Javelin. Lily also competed admirably in the 100m sprint and the 500m Middle Distance.

In Under 11s, both Amy Conde and Abbie Donovan ran super races in the 100m sprint, well done girls.

The club’s sole Under 12s representative, Zaira May Healy, competed very well in the 100m sprint coming 4th in her heat to make the final, which also booked her a place in the County Relay trials. Zaira scooped bronze in the High Jump also.

Our Under 13s athletes completed nine events in total amongst the three club representatives. Jack Kinsella ran very well in the 100m sprint, as well as the Long Jump and Javelin. Lily Siggins got through to the 100m semi final having come 3rd in her heat, and competed well in shot put and 600m Middle distance.

The Menapians Under 14s crew turned out in great numbers on the day. Josh Nolan started with a fourth place finish in the 100m sprint, then went on to win bronze in the Javelin, before taking part in the High Jump. Training pals Orla Dolan and Maebh McCormack competed in the 100m sprint where Maebh made the final, High Jump with Maebh winning bronze, and Javelin.
