Strength & Conditioning Workshop / East of Ireland Half Marathon / Taghmon AC Open Cross Country
Strength & Conditioning Workshop
Celebrating 25 years of Menapians AC continued last night as we hosted Conor Wilson who works with Athletics Ireland.
He gave a very informative presentation to our club members followed by a Q&A session.
Conor is an ex club member and generously gave of his time last night to share his knowledge and experience with everyone.
A massive thank you to Conor and thanks to Padraig Kelly for organising.
East of Ireland Half Marathon
"East of Ireland series in Howth Co Dublin offered 10k, Half, 3/4 and Full marathon distances. It's kind of a lower key event without the glitz of bigger races and so entry costs are lower - but it has real charm, a great running community spirit and a spectacular view of Dublin bay as part of the route.
I did the 3/4 marathon distance last year and it was great preparation for Dublin in October - 3 x 11k loops around Howth, very steep hills.
So back up again this year, mostly to support my wife Elaine who's preparing for Dublin this time. Just the Half for me though it was enough ... I forgot how steep the hills are here . Great weather, great views and met some really nice people, so a good day was had.
The Series is planning more events so would encourage people to have a look - something differently and really worthwhile! " - Jesse Kielthy
Taghmon AC Open Cross Country
On Sunday the heavy downpours finished just in time for the cross country event to go ahead. It was the last chance to get a testing run in before the Mr Oil County Cross Country races begin next Sunday in New Ross.
Great runs from our members Conor Casey, Helen Sinnott, Kirsty Hynds, Carey Jordan, Catherine O'Connor & Ilze Bedrite.
Thanks to Taghmon AC for organising the event.
Looking forward to the Mr Oil Novice Cross Country hosted by United Striders on October 4th.
