United Striders 5k Youghal Half Marathon / parkrun

(week to 15/08/2025)

United Striders 5k

Wow what a fantastic event United Striders have created on the Greenway in New Ross.

An A to B route, gentle decline, bus to the start or run out yourself, chip timing, cheer squads in the last km, tonnes of parking, easy registration, endless tea/coffee and refreshments the list goes on.

It's no wonder they had 320 finishers on such a great evening for running as some took a welcome break from the Fleadh Cheoil. I think the majority ran a time they were very happy with after training hard towards this run, even a couple of new PB's too

Well done to Martin Kelly who won the M70 prize.

18 Menapians AC members hit the start line and each ran superbly. Well done to everyone.

Congratulations to Striders on a wonderful event, we will be back again next year.

Youghal half marathon

David Midwinter was representing the club at the Youghal Half on Sunday morning. A bit humid on the course but the drizzle was a welcome distraction as he tackled the 2 lap route of the season side town of Youghal.

A good day as he ran 1:48:12 to finish with a smile.

Congratulations

parkrun

A very small crew taking part in parkrun on Saturday due to 2 things :

1. A number of club members running the United Striders 5k on Friday night.

2. There was no Wexford Racecourse on due to the Fleadh Cheoil.

A few did manage to complete a parkrun elsewhere,

Martin Kelly ran his 5k in Gorey Parkrun.

Anthony Dowd and Bridie McGuire travelled to JFK Park to run the New Ross parkrun.

Well done to you all.
